Turkey Rice Krispie Treats

This last Monday we made some Turkey Rice Krispie Treats. It was a lot of fun! The girls really enjoyed it! So here is the recipe:

Turkey Rice Krispie Treats

3 tablespoons margarine, or butter
1 package (10 oz, about 40 marshmallows ) or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Cocoa Krispies cereal
candy corn, red hot candies, pretzels, peanut butter

1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir mixture until smooth.

2. Add Cocoa Krispies cereal, stirring until well coated. Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, spread cereal mixture into a shallow 13 X 9 X 2 inch baking pan coated with cooking spray. When slightly cooled, shape cereal mixture into body and head shape using buttered hands. Place on waxed paper or a surface coated with cooking spray. Allow to cool.

3. Spread peanut butter over turkey body and sprinkle with Cocoa Krispies cereal. Decorate with red hot candies and miniature marshmallows for eyes and candy corn for beak. Break off sides of twisted pretzels and insert into body for tail feathers. Insert pretzel rods for legs.
Yield: 4-6 turkeys. Store no more than two days in airtight container
Here are some pictures of our finished product, and our family. Ours didn't turn out as cute as the Recipe picture, oh well. I still think they turned out super cute, and they were super duper yummy!!!

We have some more friends!!! Yay! =)

A couple of weeks ago at church I was on my way to take Madisynn to class and a couple from our ward stopped me and asked what we were doing for dinner that night. I was thrilled that they asked, but sad because we already had plans. I told them that we had invited my Mom and my Bro Quinn over for dinner. Which is a good thing. I love having family over. Anyways The Winn's replied in a joking manner. I can't remember what they said, but it was pretty darn funny! Then they said how about next Sunday. I was like sure! So this past Sunday we went over to there house and had a night of yummy food, conversation, game, and Lot's of laughter. They are fun people to hang out with. Here's to a start of a good friendship I hope! =)

I'm Fat, I'm Fat, I'm Really Really Fat!!!

This past Thursday I went out and got my visiting teaching done for the first time in almost a year. It felt good to go and visit again! So one of the ladies we visit teach was telling us that they were going to have homemade pizza and eat it while they watched walle. I thought what a good idea and it sounded so yummy. So Friday I made homemade pizza, and Shaina's yummy bread sticks, oh and we can't forget the root beer. We rented Tinkerbell, which the girls absolutely loved. It was really cute! Afterwards we just hung out and played with the girls while listening to Christmas music. Then Matt gets this brilliant idea of making the girls look like sumo's. Which is where the fat part comes in. So here are some fun pictures of the girls with a little extra weight on them!!!

It was a fun night! I love spending time with my own little family!!! =)

Canning & Jam

Doesn't this all look so yummy! I'm proud of myself. I have never ever canned anything, or made jam. I never helped my Mom growing up. I don't know why. She never asked for help either. I just never had any desire to do it. Even after 6 years of marriage I didn't have any desire, until a few months ago. My Mom happened to ask if I would like to buy some peaches from a lady in her ward. They were selling them by the basket or half basket for a great price. I don't remember the price I just know it was cheaper than anywhere around. So on a Saturday we went and picked up the peaches from the friend in her ward and went to my sister's house and canned them. It takes forever! I"m so glad I had my Mom and Sister Kate to can with! I don't want to do it by myself. Yuck! It makes me feel so bad that I didn't help my Mom when she was canning. If I would have helped she probably wouldn't have been up until early hrs. of the morning. She must have been so board! Poor thing. So with my half basket of peaches I was able to can 7 bottles and freeze almost 5 quart size bags of peaches with the rest. They are yummy!
A few weeks after that I was able to go with my Mom and Sister and a few of her kids to go pick Raspberries down in Payson UT. It was a long drive, but well worth it for the price! I can't remember how much I picked, but it was a lot of fun. Especially for the little kids! They ate so much!!! =) So I have never made Jam ever in my life either. This I did want to do, I just never took the time to do it. I wish I would have, because it is so darn simple! I made jam out of those yummy raspberries, it's my favorite kind of jam! I was able to make 5 full containers of jam as you can see in the picture, and half of another one. My Mom also gave us 2 strawberry jam's that she had made. I love jam! I wish that I could have done more of the peaches and jam, but we just don't have room in our tiny freezer. What I need is a big storage freezer to put in our garage. One day we will! =)

I'm crafty

So I know I'm a little late on posting about this. Our ward had our Super Saturday last month. This is what I made. The first one is my newest Christmas decoration. I absolutely love how it turned out! See I can be crafty!!!
The second thing I did was bath salts. I can't believe how easy it is to make bath salt! I'm definitely going to make more! The yellow ones are Baked Sugar cookies, and they smell good enough that you will want to eat yourself while in the bathtub! LOL The orange ones are Tropical Citrus, they smell really good too! My favorite though is the Sugar cookie. It was a good super saturday, and it was a blast hanging out with the woman in my ward! I'm glad I went! =)

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

So we got our first snow that actually stuck on the ground last week. I'm slow posting about it sorry. I had other plans for the day, but I wasn't sure if they were going to happen. I was tired of waiting around and it didn't look like the snow was going to last long. I decided to let the girls go and play in the snow. They had so much fun!!! When I poked my head out the door to see what they were doing McKenzie asked me well begged me to come help her make a snowman. I couldn't turn her down so I got my shoes on and gloves and came to help them. It was great packing snow, and this year McKenzie rolled the bottom snowball all by herself. She didn't do much last year...she has really grown up in the last year. It's amazing, and so cute!!! Madisynn didn't cry at all, compared to last year she cried after being in the snow for 5 min. Anyways back to the snowman. When we were done McKenzie says now we have to make a face for him. I didn't know what to use. I didn't know if we really had anything. We finally came up with Rocks for the eyes, carrot for the nose, and raisins for the mouth, a pink snow hat, and wooden stakes for the arms. I thought it turned out well! McKenzie wanted to name the snowman Frosty, I told her how about Frostina because she is wearing a pink hat. She was all over that!!! So here are some pictures of the girls and Frostina the Snow woman:
Frostina melted a couple days later....the girls were so sad. =( McKenzie is psyched for the next time it snows so she can build another snowman!

Halloween fun! & Voting!

I love October! It's such a fun busy month! I just feel like I haven't had the time to sit and post things. So first off I love Halloween decorations, especially the cutsie ones. I'm not really into the freaky ones! Here is one of my cutsie decorations:
I just wish Matt was on the same page as me on the cutsie decorations. He is more into the freaky looking ones. Here is one of Matt's creepy decorations and of course he had to hang it by the front door:
I wanted to go to a pumpkin patch this year. We just didn't have the time to go as a family. We have been helping my Mom get her yard in, and other things in the way. So I ended up getting our pumpkins at Walmart. We had a lot of fun gutting them and carving them together as a family. The girls had a hard time sticking there hands inside the pumpkin to grab the pumpkin guts. McKenzie wanted to keep washing her hands. She thought it was pretty gross! So here are some fun pictures of pumpkins and carving:

McKenzie was being really silly in her pictures. Madisynn was silly too. Love these girls!
I love my husband he is so creative! The 2 little pumpkins were to little to carve, so he said let's just put Mrs. potato head parts inside the pumpkins. The girls helped him pick.
Here are the finished products. Matt carved the 2 outside ones, and I carved the 2 middle ones. I have only carved 3 pumpkins now in my life and I thought I did a pretty darn good job. I love the potato head ones though, so stinking cute!!!
So I got a little camera happy and decided to take some of me and the girls. Matt was off doing his own thing, otherwise he would have been included. So here they are:
Oh yeah I couldn't forget to get a shot later that night with all of the pumpkins lighted up:
Now costume time. McKenzie was a purple cat, and Madisynn was a purple Monster. Matt was a Air force tech school student with his dead roommates skull. I was a party poop er and didn't dress up this year. I just didn't feel like it. Hopefully next year I will. So here are the pictures of the costumes:Our ward and another ward combined together to have a trunk or treat. It was so nice, and the girls got tons of candy! People loved there costumes and complimented us left and right. I'm so glad they had so much fun. We ran out of candy pretty quick, and ended up helping the bishop hand out there candy. I didn't want to run home to get the other candy that we had for trick or treaters that came to our house. I should have though. We ended up only having like 10 trick or treaters. They got tons of our candy though. Lucky kids!!! I'm glad it's over and I can now concentrate on Christmas.
Also today I voted see:
I'm so glad I did, and I'm so glad it's over as well. I hope you all got out and voted too.
