When God Created Fathers

One of my friends works at Michael's and she found this poem there. She bought it and showed it to us at church one Sunday. My other friend used it for her sharing time on Fathers Day. I love this poem, and it really touched me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! =)
When God Created Fathers
When the good Lord was creating Fathers, He started with a tall frame, and a female angel nearby said, "what kind of Father is that? If you're going to make children so close to the ground, why have you put Fathers up so high? He won't be able to shoot a marble without kneeling, tuck a child without a lot of stooping." And God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child-size, who would children have to look up too?"
And when God made a Father's hands, they were large and sinewy. And the angel shook her head sadly and said, "Do you know what you are doing? Large hands are clumsy. They can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails or even remove splinters caused by baseball bats." And God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties from his pockets at the end of a day. Yet small enough to cup a child's face in his hands."
God molded long, slim legs & broad shoulders. The angel nearly had a heart attack. "Boy, this is the end of the week, all right," She clucked. "Do you realize you just made a Father without a lap? How's he going to pull a child close to him without the kid falling between his legs?" And God smiled and said, "A Mother needs a lap. A Father needs strong shoulders to pull a sled, balance a boy on a bicycle, or hold a sleepy head on the way home from the circus."
God was in the middle of creating two of the largest feet anyone had ever seen when the angel could contain herself no longer. "That's not fair. Do you honestly think those large boats are going to dig out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries? Or Walk through a small party without crunching at least three of the guests?" And God smiled and said, "They'll work. You'll see. They'll support a small child who wants to ride a horse to Banbury Cross, or scare off mice at the summer cabin, or have shoes that'll be a challenge to fill." God worked throughout the night, giving the Father few words, but a firm, authoritative voice; eyes that saw everything, but remained calm and tolerant. Finally, almost as an after-thought, he added ~ tears. Then he turned to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied that he can love as much as a Mother?" The angel shuteth up..

New Baskin Robbins Flavor

My Aunt sent me this email, way too funny. Well at least I thought so!

In honor of the 44th President of the United States, Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: " Barocky Road ." Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow. The cost is $100.00 per scoop. When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but then the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you. You are left with an empty wallet and no change, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream. Are you stimulated?

What a life my Grandpa had!!! I have so many good memories of him, and I will always treasure them. He is in a better place now! A place where he will not have to suffer anymore. It has been so hard to see him suffer, it made me want to cry. I'm glad I got to say goodbye to him, and let him know that I truly do love him. I know I will see him again! I love you Grandpa! We will miss you! Till we meet again. =)

~Preschool Graduate~

Today McKenzie Graduated. It was such a cute event, and it was so fun to see all of the kiddos in her class graduate as well. They were all so excited!!! It wasn't very long of course, but we got to see what the kids learned throughout the year. The alphabet, alphabet sounds, songs and rhymes to go with the days of the week, months of the year, and money, and of course counting to 100. Yes my little stinker didn't tell me everything they did. The only song I ever heard her sing was the days of the week! I'm glad to know that she really learned a whole lot more! =)
So here is the preschool graduate: Isn't she cute?!?

Here is the preschool class:From Left to right: Dacey, Riley, MaKayla, McKenzie, Isabelle, Quiana, and Corbin. There was another little boy in the class, but I guess he couldn't make it. What a cute group of kids!

Here are closeups of McKenzie:

The kids getting ready to perform what they have learned:Kenzie and her teacher Miss Brandy:After it was all done:Lastly the cake: Cute huh? Oh it was delicious! What a good day! I'm so glad it's over, and that she had such a great experience. Brandy was a wonderful teacher, and McKenzie will miss her. I wish she would keep teaching preschool so I could put Maddie in her class. Yep it's Brandy's last time teaching preschool. She is going back to teaching Kindergarten, since her youngest will be in school all day now. Kenzie will miss her little buddies. We live 20 minutes away from all of them. It will be hard to stay in touch. She still has one of her buddies though, and that is Makayla who is in our ward.!=) McKenzie really needed the social part of it all. She no longer talks like a baby, and she has really opened up....well she is still shy, but not as much! So now Get ready Kindergarten here comes McKenzie Ann Layton!!! =)

Birthday Girls

Today was McKenzie and Madisynn's Birthday. It was a great day, and I'm so glad it's over! =) McKenzie turned 5 and Madisynn turned 3. They are growing up so fast. I can't believe it!

McKenzie 5 years old. =)
Madisynn 3 years old. =)
So sweet!
Sorry about the bum crack, she always has one! LOL I love this picture though, it's so cute! I love my girls. =)
The girls were so excited that their birthday had finally arrived. They wanted their cake and presents, and this is what I had to listen to all day long. "Mom can I have my presents???" I got tired of repeating myself. The girls wanted to have another princess party this year. McKenzie Sleeping beauty, and Maddie Ariel. I decided to get creative this year with the cake. I made a princess castle cake. Here it is:

I thought it turned out pretty good. The girls liked it, and that's all that mattered!

Here are the girls blowing out the candles:

It was so fun singing happy birthday to them. The girls were singing happy birthday to themselves. It was funny, and very cute. It's one of their favorite songs to sing, so they are pros!

Then came time for presents, the most exciting part by far! They quickly forgot about the cake and were tearing into their presents. So here is some pictures of what they got:

Sleeping beauty and Ariel of course!

Here is one with the girls and my Mom:

She gave them these cute masks that they can decorate, some sidewalk chalk and sidewalk chalk paint, and some other crafty things to do. They loved it! We also gave them some water balloons, and squirt guns, and bubbles because we plan on being outside a lot this summer. We are tired of being cooped up in the house! So their was our day, no huge party or anything, we just kept it small and simple. Again I'm glad it's over, and I'm so ready for bed! Happy birthday to my 2 baby girls! =)

1 year

Well we have officially done it. We have made it 1 year in our house. I can't believe it!!! Buying a house was one of the most stressful things I have ever done. I really don't want to go through it again! LOL If we have too, then I will, but for now we are staying here. I love it here, love our neighbors, our ward. It's a great area! I'm looking forward to doing more in our home. We weren't able to afford to do anything really last year, but now that we got our taxes back we have done a little. The first thing that we did was buy a new fridge. I love it!!! This is the one we bought:I love that the freezer is on the bottom. I love black. I love the space in the fridge. So organized! I love the ice maker, and water dispenser too. Very convenient! It's beautiful!

The next thing we did was buy ceiling fans for our kitchen, and our bedroom. I love them! They give off so much more light then the lights we had before. Here is a picture of what they look like:So yes some nice additions to our home! Looking forward to doing more! =)
